Venue Hire - Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can I hire the BRC hall for 21st or 18th Birthday Parties?
A. No

Q. Is there a curfew?
A. Yes, your function must finish and the premises and surrounding area vacated by 11pm

Q. How do I make a booking?
A. Email the Club to see if your preferred date is available. Once you have inspected the hall, download the Agreement and email the completed form to the Club Manager. Your application will be reviewed and if approved you will be asked to confirm the booking by either directly depositing the hire fee into BSC’s account, or by supplying us with valid Mastercard or VISA card details.

Dates cannot be held without payment and you only have a booking once the Agreement is approved and full payment has been made.

Q. Can I inspect the hall?
A. You can visit on Club Race Days (check our website / calendar), or email the club to arrange an inspection at other times.

Q. How many guests am I allowed to have?
A. Balmain Sailing Club has a maximum capacity of 120 persons. There is sufficient space in the hall for 80 people for a sit-down function.

Q. Does Balmain Sailing Club cater?
A. We do not supply catering services. We have kitchen facilities and you are welcome to self-cater or bring in commercial caterers.

Q. When can I gain access for setting up?
A. A venue key will be given to you, usually on the day of your hire and assuming your bond has been received by BSC.

Q. When am I required to return the key?
A. You are required to return the key by 9.30am the next morning, unless prior arrangements have been made.

Q. Am I required to clean the venue after use?
A. Yes, you are required to clean the hall and return it to the condition to which you received it.

Q. Am I required to remove my rubbish?
A. You can take your rubbish with you, or, the BSC has several wheelie bins. The cost of disposal of each bin is $35.00.

Q. Does BSC provide plates and glasses?
A. We do provide any plates and cutlery. We do not supply glasses. Equipment provided by BSC are listed on the Agreement.

Q. Does BSC provide a PA system?
A. We have a PA system available for an additional cost.

Q. Does the Venue have disabled access?
A. We have limited disable access. There is disabled access from the street level via a Lift at Hopetoun Quays. A path leads from the lift to the adjacent park. From there disabled access is limited. We do not have disabled toilet facilities.

Q. What type of parking is available around the club?
A. Limited street parking is available. BSC does not have any off-street parking.

Q. Can I decorate the walls and the structure of the hall?
A. You are allowed to put up any non-permanent/non-marking decorations inside the venue, provided that all fixings are removed at the end of the function.

Q. How much noise are we allowed to make?
A. The BSC hall is located in a residential area, so we cannot accept hirers who are going to disturb our neighbors. Noise and music must be kept to moderate levels and contained within the venue. Hirers are required to be considerate towards neighbors when returning to their cars or accessing taxis by keeping noise to a minimum.
